Title

Optical Flow Sensors For Environmental Compliance And Process Control - Flares and Combustion

Abstract

Optical Scientific is a proven leader in developing advanced electro-optical sensors for a wide range of applications and customers for over 30 years. This presentation will focus on our OFS series (optical flow sensors) and discuss how to apply the technology for CSR (Chemical Sector Rule), RSR and other challenging flow applications. OFS makes drift free measurements across the entire measurement path and is isolated from the process so it won’t create a pressure drop on critical processes. OFS is unique because our patented technology is looking at fluctuations in light caused by turbulence rather than absolute light intensity which enables it to work in very harsh / dirty environments. OFS measurement technique is uniquely unaffected by and does not have to compensate for changes in temperature, pressure, humidity, density or opacity. Truly a versatile technology when it comes to monitoring flow velocity, OFS technology has proven successful in a variety of challenging applications that include high temperatures, high and variable opacity, high dust concentrations and very harsh gases for users of Flare Stacks, Thermal Oxidizers, wet scrubbers, incinerators, primary/secondary air ducts, bag houses, processes with suspended droplets and a wide range of others.
