I am a Senior Ecologist with over 17 years of experience working within the environmental services field. At present, I serve as the NEPA and Ecological Services Team Leader for an engineering and environmental consulting that supports diverse clients throughout the U.S. I have spent most of my career conducting applied research and/or providing technical leadership to environmental projects within western ecosystems. I am well-versed in environmental regulations and project permitting; however, I excel at creative solutions to “outside-the-box” problems in natural resource management. My expertise is in vegetation ecology, natural resource management, ecological risk assessment, environmental chemistry and bioechemistry, and habitat management and restoration. Recently, I have had the unique opportunity to support and facilitate a multi-stakeholder team that is focused on habitat restoration and mitigation. I have also conducted academic research on global change impacts on terrestrial ecosystems using both field experiments and ecosystem modeling.
I am passionate about mentorship, team building, and professional and community service. I actively participate in both industry and scientific professional societies, in addition to serving on the board of directors of a local food cooperative. As a lifelong educator, I have taught courses at the high school, college, and university levels. As a way to further develop this interest and support clients in local municipalities, I have been assisting with the develop of Citizen Scientist programs to encourage community participation in conservation projects.
